Water is
life. Lake Michigan and the Great Lakes
contain 21% of the world's surface fresh water and 54% of the
world's liquid fresh water, yet people in the lakeside city of
Michigan are having their water turned off by the thousands. In a
city under “emergency management” and bankruptcy, many cannot afford
to pay their exorbitant water bills. However, corporations who
owe tens, or even hundreds, of thousands towards
for water are not held accountable for paying their
bills. What is happening to our communities and to democracy in
the United States?

Detroit to talk about the issues surrounding the crisis of the water
shut-offs and the move toward water privatization.
