#HandsOffCyprus Update

People across the UK have been emailing their local MPs and calling on them to publicly speak out against Turkey's unacceptable demands towards Cyprus. MPs from Aberdeen all the way down to Exeter have received emails about the latest developments in Cyprus. So far, over a third of MPs have been contacted by constituents about Cyprus (check out the highlighted constituencies in the map below) and many MPs are beginning to reply to the emails. If you have already received a response from your MP, please feel free to share it with us: enquiries@cypriotfederation.org.uk

As more and more UK Cypriots email their MPs, now is the time to make sure you and your family have made their voices heard using our automated form and pre-prepared letter - www.cypriotfederation.org.uk/mp

Since we launched the campaign, yet more threatening actions and rhetoric have come from Turkey towards Cyprus - the article below highlights some recent developments. Our community needs to make its voice heard on the crucial issue of Security and Guarantees and withdrawal of troops. We need our MPs to publicly speak out against Turkey’s unacceptable demands and insist that Turkey, once and for all, takes its hands off Cyprus.

We've made it simple to email your MP through our website: www.cypriotfederation.org.uk/mp. Our website will find your MP, their contact details and prepare a template email - it takes less than 30 seconds and can make a big difference for Cyprus! #HandsOffCyprus

Yet more threatening actions from Turkey towards Cyprus

Recent developments in Turkey have yet again shown why the #HandsOffCyprus campaign is so important. A major Turkish political party, which is President Erdogan's AKP Party's coalition partner, has included Cyprus as part of a map of Turkey in the run up to the elections in June 2018.

In addition, Turkey is now reported to be drilling in Cyprus' EEZ. Turkey's Foreign Minister, speaking recently in Antalya said, “we are also starting to drill around Cyprus now." He went on to say that, “you know that in the past we prevented some drillings, including (one) by the Italians. But we will also drill in these areas.”
