The windshield rolled OUT, the back window rolled Down. No automatic transmission - you learned to shift manually. Overdrive was vacuum operated - get the hang of that. Wiring was all fabric covered. Upholstery was "Mohair". No plastic parts. Original engine had babbit main bearings - not inserts. Valves; No adjust. You welded the tappets up and ground them to fit. Very time consuming [but no TV in those days so you had plenty of time!] Carburetor had a "float". Defective, it was dangerous. 6 Volt system - had to be in good shape. suspension was two springs like old wagons! "Flathead" engines were "Water Heaters"! Top speed if everything was right; about 85 mph. You could goose it up to 100 with a newer engine and that Columbia Overdrive. Columbia Overdrive came statndard on Lincolns; Fuel gauge had fluid in it! Corvette photo; Would you believe it? 60 YEARS go by. The ignition distributor is STILL mounted down in front of the engine!
