Just changed out a heater hose and learned something. After you tighten the clamps on the hose you wait about 3-4 hours and go check them. You might find leaks and you can tighten them again! Just experienced that, and likely the reason for leaks to begin with. - Not tight enough. So that I wouldn`t have any trouble this winter, I put a new fuel pump on, changed out the power steering pump and hoses, changed the fan clutch - not working well, and put a new bearing and brushes in the alternator. See, on that engine I just didn`t know how old all that stuff was. And the old fan clutch wasn`t doing well in the heat of summer. But Thank God, that old Caprice engine with the Pontiac Firebird pistons and rods is doing just great! Interesting to know; A drop of full strength "Loctite" produces about 35 lbs. of torque to remove it. Good stuff! [You don`t need LocTite on hose clamps! Just a few critical parts like the oil pump.]
