Watch: EU leaders 'look Gaza's children in the eyes'

Dear Avaazers across the EU,
In the last 24 hours, Avaaz members, families and children joined doctors recently returned from Gaza in front of ten gigantic portraits of Palestinian children with a simple message to Europe's leaders: Look them in the eyes!

Heads of state and foreign ministers are right now debating whether to keep giving trade perks to Israel -- even while Israel violates human rights, starving children, bombing schools, and blocking aid! It’s outrageous.

The EU is Israel's biggest trade partner! Our leaders have so much leverage here they are not using. But we can make sure EU leaders are looking Gaza's children right in the eyes as they decide on the trade deal with Israel!! This choice needs to be more about people and less about politics.

Last week, Avaaz staff accompanied doctors recently returned from Gaza in meetings across Brussels. Everyone we met with was moved to tears by the stories they heard and the photos they saw.

But one thing was absolutely frightening to us. It was clear that Brussels politicians had not heard the stories from the ground in Gaza. They had not looked into the faces of those most harmed. They are completely removed, which is why we need to keep the human faces of this war front and centre for them.

The tide is finally starting to shift across many European countries. Ireland just banned trade with settlements. Spain recently froze arms sales to Israel. Suspending EU trade perks for Israel could be next, if we keep pushing hard.
