The secret to buying a used vehicle for cheap is to find one no one wants - non-running - needs work. Better to go for the older stuff WITHOUT those plastic parts and electronic gyzmos too. Be prepared to spend $1500 to $3,000 for restoration parts. The 4X4 restored below had a WORSE body than this; Everything had to be replaced except the cab, doors, grill, and front clip. Cab and doors needed bodywork. Transmission was cracked, Engine worn out. Cargo beds replaced. Proof that it can be done; `84 T-Bird $350; Needed work. Ran another 8 Years! Dodge Lancer For FREE; Non-running, Just Tow it away!. Both cars made good "Work Cars" when running again. 4X4 was almost for Free, had serious problems. 2 wheel drive cost $300 and a tool box set in trade. Originally.
