Glad I wasn`t a teacher in life. Most people don`t want to know the truth about anything and hide from it. "Religion" gives them an easy out. [Quote from Karl Marx; "Religion is the opiate of the masses." Nietzsche dissected Christianity and found it very weak and defective philosophically.

For the record, I don't buy into conspiracy theories. Conspiracy theories are constructed to explain what is unknowable. Religious mythology serves the same purpose, by the way.
One of the reasons that "conspiracy theories" spread is that many people believe that the truth about all events is knowable. For those who search for it, and are open to it, the truth about these things is out there. Just do your research, right?
Except, that isn't true. The world has become one huge mystery. The truth about most of the events that concern us is completely unknowable. Which gives rise to "conspiracy theories" (to explain those mysteries) and also propaganda (which, like the example of Saddam Hussein's WMD stockpiles) is really just another set of lies tailored to fit the facts.
It is human nature to treat events as "puzzles" to be solved by looking for more information; the "keys" to the truth. The truth is unknowable; so what we have are not puzzles; but are "mysteries". More information helps solve a puzzle; more information only deepens a mystery.
That's why it appears (to most people) that the government is not hiding anything ... because they give us plenty of information. That information appears to solve a puzzle for most people; to most people the "official" story, the propaganda lies, simplifies the matter. To others, conspiracy theories serve the same purpose; they solve a puzzle.
The truth is, though, that all that information we're being fed, none of it is completely trustworthy. None of it solves the puzzle; it only deepens the mystery.
What was the real fate of Osama bin Laden? We will never know. WTC7? Never. [Yes we know. He got sick and died. The lying politicians didn`t kill him.]
These are mysteries, not puzzles to be solved.
Conspiracy theories propound to explain what is forever unexplainable. Ignore them.
