Subject: Enter the Game of Monopoly LATE!

{Ha Ha! Just join that board game LATE with just a little money! Whoa! Ha HA! Land on certain spots and kerflooey - you are broke and out! Denninger shows you the real example;  L.}

What self-serving horse****.
It's starting to look more and more like millennials are missing the economic boat.
Study after study shows that younger American adults ages 18 to 33 areless likely to own a home, have a full-time job, own a car, or even use a credit card than older American generations when they were that age.
These trends are a major threat to our economy. We already know the downward pressure they're putting on consumer consumption, but the millennial aversion to marriage in particular is posing a serious new threat to Social Security and other sacred entitlement programs.
Watch out -- if they keep this up we will be ****ed!  That's the message here.  Then the cryin'-n-lyin' starts:
All those complaints and excuses, including the marriage issue, were well summarized in this column by the Washington Post's Catherine Rampell, where Rempell cites numerous polls insisting that millennials want to engage in all the social and economic trappings of adulthood, but just can't afford it.
But that column is filled with the kind of self-pity that actually acts as damning evidence of their culpability in their self-destruction.
Because the funny thing about taking a risk is that you have to just do it.
Oh that's true.
But there's this thing called money odds that anyone who actually invests (or gambles for that matter) knows about.  Some people learn it the hard way -- in fact, a lot of people do.
The problem, in a nutshell, is that the actions of the last 30ish years have radically altered the money odds, and not in a way that encourages risk-taking.  In fact, quite the opposite.
First, we destroyed the ability of half the population to decide to start and raise a family with a reasonable degree of security they will be a fully-involved parent in those children's lives.  This was done intentionally at the behest of feminist groups, and it has utterly trashed the desire of many men to start families -- which means, incidentally, get married.  The men who don't give a damn, of course, could care less about such odds since they never intended to stick around anyway; for the guy who wants to ****-n-run this "enlightenment" has been a bonanza.  It's only the good men who want kids and want to actually raise them that are deterred.
Then we did even worse and destroyed the economic incentives to start businesses -- never mind simply get out and go to work.
Millennials with a brain can see the government doubling its indebtedness over the space of just a few years.  Those with said brain know what an exponential function looks like because they weren't smoking bong hits in math class while in school.  They see both major political parties telling them they can't stop deficit spending -- not now, not ever.
They also see the medical system bankrupt their friends and, more importantly, their families. How many $10,000 bogus charges for services that were never performed, or $60,000 for two vials of $100 scorpion anti-venom do you think the average millennial has to see someone get ass-****ed by before he or she figures out that you only have to get sick once and everything you have is gone.  Gee, that's incentive to take risk and try to build your own little fortune, right?
NOT.
And then we have the Wall Street scams.  Corzine didn't go to jail and neither has anyone else.  Nor are the hospital administrators who billed out those charges for services never performed, or any of the other corporate interests that are always looking for a way not to make an honest profit but rather to rip you off wholesale.  These aren't little rip-offs either; those plague every society and it never ends, because there are dishonest people in the world everywhere.  No, these are big robberies that ought to be felonies everywhere and always, yet today they never are.  Go ahead, try to start a business or get ahead, but the dice roll on one or more of these *******s getting their claws into you and destroying everything you built, and your inability to obtain justice if they do, makes the deal rather less attractive than it used to be.
All of this means that a millennial with a brain knows damn well that the cliff will come, the only question is when.  When you're young and full of cum risk-taking is at its highest, and it should be.
But what you're asking people to do here is play Russian Roulette with five rounds instead of one and you won't take the damned bullets out of the chambers because to do so means you have to stop screwing people left, right and center!
Again, those who are not so-inclined don't give a damn, but we even incent them not to care on top of the "natural" rewards for bad behavior -- with handouts galore.  Pick one -- free medical care (Obamacare/Medicaid), food stamps, you name it, it's there.  If you don't want to work -- or work hard -- your choice is subsidized.
If you do work hard the math says you're unlikely to get to keep any of it as it will eventually be stolen due to the arithmetic, and that's one of the Robber Barons don't get you first.
Gee, what an awesome set of incentives!  NOT!
Those millennials who are taking the plunge are doing just fine. The dynamic tech sector is tailor-made for them and a recent report from the Shulman Report shows there are more millennial millionaires than the older Gen-X generation.
Odds, my friend, odds.
When I started MCSNet it was my third attempt at doing the "own destiny" deal.  The other two ended up going to work for someone else, and not because I wanted to -- because they were failing.
That's actually not bad against the odds, incidentally -- the statistics say only 1 in 10 businesses survives five years.  The other 9 fold.  So I did it in 3 tries, which is better than average -- by quite a bit.
Others were lucky enough to hit the magic on the first try.  But for everyone who does there's the guy who fails serially 10 times, and he's only going to stand up for another kick in the nuts if he thinks he can avoid it the next time around.
Convince him he can't because you've put forward an environment that is extraordinarily hostile to such attempts, and you get fewer of them.
Today there is not a snowball's chance in Hell I would choose to start MCSNet because in my estimation the odds against success are at least 10x worse than they were in 1993 due to the above factors.  I think I'm pretty good at what I do, but I'm not that good, which means I have to have a business plan that embodies stealing things (and hope I can make it big enough that I join the "can't go to jail club" before I get nailed) -- and that means I need to be a sociopath to be interested in trying at all.
You want to see this change?
Then start locking people up.  Dismantle the medical monopolies, which will immediately put an end to deficit spending because neither Medicare or Medicaid will be necessary -- for anyone, nor will medical insurance generally.  Lock up the fraudsters on Wall Street and in the banks.
When you stop the medical scam all of the Federal Deficit will disappear -- overnight -- and be replaced with a large surplus. At the same time state and local budgets will be stabilized on a permanent forward basis and taxes will fall precipitously.
You'll put the incentive back into work and risk-taking by removing the scams, in short.
But until you do that I don't blame the millennials one little bit.

And that's a fact, Jake.
