Revisiting Palestine-Israel from new angles and with new
considerations, our most recent edition of Emergence features
perspectives from volunteers at Operazione Colomba
(Operation Dove), a group that Michael and Stephanie stayed with
during their recent trip to Palestine. Operazione
Colomba "enters into a conflict by 'sharing
life' with the victims. We share our lives with the people who
suffer the war’s violence and we don’t leave them alone." Don't

 Last weekend
on Peace Paradigm Radio, we interviewed
Oakland activist Nichola Torbett about Urban Shield:
what is it, why we are concerned about it (hint: police
militarization) and and what can we do - not only in
terms of creative resistance, but also in terms of cultivating a
deeper awareness of what’s at stake when we call on external law
enforcement. The good news is, as Michael points out in his
segment Nonviolence
in the News, due to pressure from activists and concerned
citizens, Oakland
will not be hosting the Urban Shield Convention in 2015!
 Also,
in Nonviolence in the News, Michael discusses the upcoming "People's Climate March,"
which is expecting up to 200,000 people. Referencing Chris
Hedges recent article about the march, The Last Gasp of Climate Change
Liberals, we ponder, "What next!?" If
the government once again refuses to take adequate action, what
steps are we willing to take? Luckily, Metta Center has just
posted a new page on nonviolent direct action
that is chock full of ideas and inspiration for those who know that
the world can't wait.
Also, get some perspective from Kimberlyn David in her article
we've published in concert the PACS 164C, which has been
taking place at Metta Center's Red Barn. Investing in Human Connection, reviews key
material of the course through a personal lens.
