Dear friends,
Once again, the river of blood is running in Gaza at the
hands of Israel's military, which is unleashing its most deadly weapons
on one of the most densely populated areas on Earth. The scenes of the torn
bodies are unbearable. As of this writing more than 172 Palestinians
have been killed and countless more injured, most of them civilians. By the
time you read this appeal, the numbers will surely and sadly be higher.
Gaza has long been an epicenter of the Palestinian struggle.
With 80% of the population being refugees
and relying on aid agencies for daily sustenance, the situation there today
is even more dire. The health care system in Gaza was weak and depleted
prior to these more recent attacks. Today, given the high number of
causalities, an already struggling health sector is struggling to
cope.
While we are all hoping for an immediate cessation to these
brutal attacks, we know too that in their aftermath there will be a long
and arduous recovery process for many. For this reason we are launching
this emergency
appeal for Gaza
and hope that you will respond to this call at this moment of great need.
We also call on all people of conscience to strongly condemn this savagery and do
everything in their power to help stop it. The Palestinian people deserve
the same protection
and basic rights
that we are all entitled to.
Every dollar donated to this emergency appeal will be 100% restricted
for providing desperately needed humanitarian
aid to the people of Gaza, so that they can rebuild their
lives and recover from Israel's brutal aggression. Additionally, your
contribution to the Jerusalem Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, is
100% tax
deductible. Please consider helping the Jerusalem Fund in
assisting the people of Gaza
at this time, we cannot do it without your support. We thank you in
advance for your generosity.
