Dear friends,
It has been two weeks since the start of Israel's horrific bombardment
campaign and aggression against Gaza.
Once again, Israel has unleashed its arsenal of terror against the
Palestinian population and continues to do so with complete impunity
as the rest of the world watches and does nothing. As of this writing more
than 532
Palestinians have been killed and more than 3100 injured,
most of them civilians. By the time you read this appeal, the numbers will
surely and sadly be higher.
Gaza has long been an epicenter of the Palestinian struggle.
With 80% of the population being refugees
and relying on aid agencies for daily sustenance, the situation there today
is even more dire. The health care system in Gaza was weak and depleted
prior to these more recent attacks. Today, given the high number of
causalities, an already damaged health sector is struggling to
cope. To make matters even worse, Israel has shelled and struck three hospitals
since the start of its ground offensive last week.
While we are all hoping for an immediate cessation to these
brutal attacks, we know too that in their aftermath there will be a long
and arduous recovery process for many. For this reason we are launching
this emergency
appeal for Gaza
and hope that you will respond to this call at such a moment of great need.
We also call on all people of conscience to strongly condemn this savagery and do
everything in their power to help stop it. The Palestinian people deserve
the same protection
and basic rights
that we are all entitled to.
Every dollar donated to this emergency appeal will be 100% restricted
for providing desperately needed humanitarian
aid to the people of Gaza, so that they can rebuild their
lives and recover from Israel's brutal aggression. Additionally, your
contribution to the Jerusalem Fund, a registered 501(c)(3) organization, is
100% tax
deductible. Please consider helping the Jerusalem Fund in
assisting the people of Gaza
at this desperate time, we cannot do it without your support. We
thank you in advance for your generosity.
