With the push for Electric vehicles - a future disaster! You may have to keep your old buggy alive much longer than you thought. The problems are sneaky today! Those damn plastic parts, electrical complexity, fuel pumps in the tank. Today`s modern vehicles are not made for easy maintainance. In the old days, Worn cylinder ridges were a problem. Not so much now. Today, replacing the tired - weak piston rings usually does it. High mileage engines usually have worn bearings and crankshaft. You might hear the tapping and pounding. Overhaul with new parts and crankshaft. Worn camshaft; Will get so bad the cylinder fails to fire; Cracked heads will leak water into the crankcase and speed up the destruction of the engine. Esp. bearings and crankshaft. Crack repair; Water damage from a cracked head caused more damage in this engine. Fixes; rebore one cylinder and install a sleeve, Replace both heads, replace damaged crankshaft and bearings. Runs good now. 1980 chevy 350 V8 with 1976 400 heads installed. A spare replacement engine for this truck; Sure hope I won`t need it. 2 συνημμένα
