Good news for those building guns from kits and those already owning them. Some guns have numbers but are so old that the numbers are meaningless. I have a gun with a number on the lower frame but it dates from World War 2, meaningless! The police DID check the serial number on my 1911 pistol, but it`s 50 years old. They could check for a recent stolen gun, that`s all.

Although that employment is long done, for me, that oath still stands. Since that day ,I have often thought very seriously about the Constitution. Many people with quote it and claim its protection but in recent years few really understand the Constitution and assume that it is their bulkward and shield. In that assumption, they would be terribly wrong. A very recent president, of this Republic, is reputed to have said that the Constitution is just a piece of paper and in that regard, he would have been correct. I offer the following example. Amendment VI In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defense. Those of you who have actually read the Bill of Rights will immediately recognize the Sixth Amendment and the fact that it clearly states that the accused has the RIGHT to a SPEEDY TRIAL. Now think about those who are currently incarcerated awaiting trial and denied bail. Did the Bill of Rights protect these people? Hardly. The point is that the Constitution is only a piece of paper that tells you what your rights are. It is up to you to protect and enforce them.
